The Department of Physics at the University of Connecticut (UConn) invites applications for a teaching appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Residence (APiR), beginning in the fall 2020 semester. This faculty position will be located at the UConn Avery Point regional campus.

Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a related field, the ability to teach a range of courses at the undergraduate level, and a commitment to professional development through, for example, participation in teaching technique seminars or preparation for college teaching programs. Equivalent foreign degrees are acceptable.


Experience implementing high-impact teaching practices guided by physics education research; use of educational technologies, such as online homework systems, smart boards, or classroom response systems (“clickers”), and instructional lab management skills. Recognition of outstanding pedagogy, such as teaching excellence awards, would also be of interest.


This is a 9-month full-time faculty position with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2020. It is renewable annually and may lead to successive multi-year contracts. Promotions to Associate Professor in Residence and Professor in Residence are possible, but this position does not lead to permanent academic tenure. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
