The Associate Director of Learning Innovation will provide project/program management for learning initiatives within DCAL’s portfolio. The focus of this position is twofold: creating and implementing a framework for aligning new teaching and learning-related initiatives with DCAL’s work and managing DCAL’s portfolio of past and ongoing innovation initiatives.

Learning innovation enables faculty to develop new student – centered learning experiences to enhance learning and reach prospective, current, and life-long Dartmouth learners. Bringing together experiential and digital learning, the Associate Director serves as the central point of planning and coordination to incubate projects that advance the mission of the institution.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design or related field and 5 years’ experience in learning design, project management, experiential education or an equivalent combination of education and experience;

  • Demonstrated expertise in domains of active learning pedagogy, experiential, and online/blended learning;

  • Knowledge of faculty development practices and approaches;

  • Demonstrated understanding of issues pertaining to teaching and learning in a research university, including knowledge and understanding of faculty culture;

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and constructively with a diversity of colleagues and clients across divisions and at multiple levels (undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, faculty, and staff);

  • Excellent writing, listening, analytical, and organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks;

  • Tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive or confidential matters;

  • Independence, initiative, resourcefulness, and an attitude of service;

  • Ability to design and coordinate successful educational programs;

  • Ability to network with a wide variety of Dartmouth officers, faculty, staff and community organizations to promote experiential learning, student program development and implementation;

  • Ability to conduct or supervise program evaluation including collection and analysis metrics and support assessment of programs and projects;

  • Familiarity with confidentiality regulations including FERPA and data security;

  • Ability to foster cross-discipline collaborative teams;

  • Commitment to inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse institution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in a relevant discipline and 5-7 years of learning design, project management, experiential education.

  • Demonstrated record of scholarship in learning innovation.
