Metropolitan State University, a vibrant and growing public, urban university, is seeking to fill a full-time fixed-term assistant professor position within the Natural Sciences department, located in the College of Science, beginning August 2019.

Responsibilities:

  • Faculty members are expected to demonstrate ability to teach biology, genetics, molecular or cell biology and biochemistry courses effectively at the undergraduate level.

  • Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement

  • Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study

  • Contribute to student growth and development and engage in service to the university and community

  • Outstanding candidates will demonstrate a commitment to serving a culturally diverse student body through delivering a student-centered education in a liberal arts and sciences context and will possess the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in Biology, Genetics, Cell/Molecular Biology or related field, at time of appointment

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach undergraduate science

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the fields of genetics, cell/molecular biology and biochemistry

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Evidence of relevant research or other scholarly activity

  • Evidence of commitment to continuing preparation and study

  • Demonstrated ability to work productively in a culturally, economically and linguistically diverse institution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching in a liberal arts and sciences environment

  • Relevant work experience in research, industry, or government
