Metropolitan State University, a vibrant and growing public, urban university, is seeking to fill a full-time fixed-term assistant professor position within the Natural Sciences department, located in the College of Science, beginning August 2019.
Faculty members are expected to demonstrate ability to teach biology, genetics, molecular or cell biology and biochemistry courses effectively at the undergraduate level.
Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement
Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study
Contribute to student growth and development and engage in service to the university and community
Outstanding candidates will demonstrate a commitment to serving a culturally diverse student body through delivering a student-centered education in a liberal arts and sciences context and will possess the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals.
PhD in Biology, Genetics, Cell/Molecular Biology or related field, at time of appointment
Demonstrated ability to effectively teach undergraduate science
Demonstrated proficiency in the fields of genetics, cell/molecular biology and biochemistry
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Evidence of relevant research or other scholarly activity
Evidence of commitment to continuing preparation and study
Demonstrated ability to work productively in a culturally, economically and linguistically diverse institution
Experience teaching in a liberal arts and sciences environment
Relevant work experience in research, industry, or government
