The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit, Catholic university, invites applications for an academic year adjunct lecturer (one year, non-tenure track) in Mathematics. Courses may include calculus, for both science/engineering students and/or business students, introductory (non-calculus) probability and statistics, discrete mathematics, pre-calculus, mathematics for non-science majors, introductory programming or object-oriented programming. Candidates are not required to be able to teach all courses listed above.

Specific assignments will be made according to the academic qualifications of the individual and programmatic need. The successful candidate will teach the equivalent of 7 courses over the year, with at least one course in each quarter, fall, winter and spring. Each quarter is 10 weeks long, with an 11th week set for final examinations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree (Ph.D./MFA) in Mathematics or a closely-related field. **Applicants with an ABD or an M.A. accompanied by commensurate academic experience in Computer Science or a closely-related field (5-7 years of college or professional teaching) will be considered.

  • Candidates will have demonstrated excellence in teaching Mathematics at the college level.

  • Candidates shall have excellent communication skills.

  • Candidates shall have demonstrated experience of excellent teaching in Mathematics
