Breonna Martin
Treasurer-Elect
Breonna Martin is an Assistant Professor of Biology and Biotechnology at Harford Community College (HCC). She has enthusiastically dedicated her efforts to educating and mentoring undergraduate students for twelve years. She supports the NSF grant-funded BIOTECH Pathways Program at HCC by developing and leading workshops and summer programs to introduce high school students, teachers,
and parents to biotechnology applications and career opportunities. As a result of this work and helping to expand the biotechnology program, Breonna was awarded the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Excellence Award in 2023, and the Northeastern Maryland Technology Council Rising Star Visionary Award in 2024.
She became invested in Scientific Teaching after attending her first Regional Summer Institute in 2017. Since then she has continuously engaged in this community of educators as a facilitator, a MoSI leader, and an ACT coordinator. She is excited to continue supporting the NIST community and empowering educators to embrace evidence-based teaching practices.
